Using the Body's Energy to Heal

Chakras Energy healing Mind-body therapy

What's Energy Psychology?

Healing With Your Body's Own Energy

Energy Psychology can help you overcome self-defeating emotional patterns, achieve higher levels of psychological well-being, and enhance your performance in your world by shifting your energies that regulate them.

  • Self-limiting beliefs  and dysfunctional emotional responses can be separated and eliminated one by one
  • Stubborn anxieties and phobias often fade with a few sessions
  • A life long grip of early trauma can be released with a few sessions
  • Anger can be managed more reliably
  • Depression in many cases can be alleviated
  • Achievements in sports, school, music and business can be given a powerful boost
  • Elusive physical problems can be helped

Every thought or emotion that you experience causes a reaction in a specific area of your brain.  If you were to watch the screen of a brain-imaging device like a PET scanner, while you were experiencing substantial stress or anxiety, you would see specific areas receiving arousal signals that make the screen light up like a Christmas tree.  If your brain recognizes a similarity between a distressing situation from your past and what you are seeing or hearing in the moment - even though there is no current threat - the same distress signals that you experienced in the earlier situation can become activated.  It may seem unreasonable but the emotional response can be overwhelming.  Maybe your spouse's voice hits just the tone of your parent's voice right before you got spanked, and you are suddenly angry at your spouse and fiercely defending actions that weren't being criticized..  This basic sequence is at the root of many difficulties, from dysfunctional patterns in relationships and self-defeating choices to unnamed anxieties, unprovoked bouts of depression, and irrational jealousy, fear, or anger.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping combined with therapy frequently produces undeniable improvement in sometimes as little as a few sessions.

While Western medicine may be slow to understand the body's subtle energies and even slower to accept that these energies can be used in healing, other cultures have been working with energy healing for thousands of years.  One of the most elaborately developed systems, and one that has held up relatively well to Western scientific scrutiny, is the practice of acupuncture.  Acupuncture is not only among the oldest known medical treatments, extending back some five thousand years, it is one of the most widely used health-care systems on the planet. EFT is using this system knowledge to help in the healing process by tapping on acupoints.

An Acupoint, or Acupuncture point,  is a tiny area of the skin.  Acupoints also have a higher concentration of receptors that are sensitive to mechanical stimulation, and specific points, when stimulated, send signals directly to areas of the brain that are associated with emotions.  The energetic properties of the acupuncture points can be activated by tapping, massaging, or holding them, as well as through the use of needles and heat.  There are at  least 360 points are distributed along a network of energy pathways called the meridian system.  Stimulating an acupoint can send impulses to areas of the body that are far away from the point itself.  Stimulating certain points not only change brain activity, but also deactivates areas of the brain that are involved with the experiences of fear and pain as well as cause the secretion of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that, if not present in sufficient amounts, is associated with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance abuse.
