As a trauma therapist I believe that an empathetic, collaborative, and trusting relationship is the key to growth and change. I want to help you gain a better understanding of yourself, because it is self awareness that brings about change. We can't change what we don't know or understand. Let's find out together.
As a wife of a retired Fire Captain/Navy Chief Petty Officer, I understand the daily overload of first responders. I understand that being a first responder is not only a "job" but a lifestyle. For too long, you have been expected to respond to traumatic incidents without any of it affecting you or those around you. Trauma has a huge impact on a person's mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual state. I want to help you learn about how your career affects your brain and nervous system.
By using Mind-Body therapy, I can help you heal by focusing on bringing back balance mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. When we learn to pay attention to each of these states of being, we can be aware of where our system may be off balance. That's where the work is needed and can take place. Awareness is key to change. I like to combine a broad range of different holistic approaches to help each client reach the deepest level of healing possible including Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping, Guided Meditation, Hypnosis,Mindfulness, and Somatic Experiencing.
I have worked in the Mental Health and Addiction fields for many years. I started my life's purpose of helping others working at Camarillo State Hospital as a Psychiatric Technician before it closed to become California State University Channel Islands. From there, I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology at California Lutheran University and transitioned to working in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment as a Marriage Family Therapist.
I'm here to help you take the first step on your healing journey. My goal is to provide a nurturing, discrete, non-judgmental, and compassionate environment in which to heal. I am experienced working with people who need to keep their struggles discrete. I work with Professionals, First Responders, and Military, (but not limited to). I specialize in Depression, Anxiety, Substance Abuse, and Trauma.
Trusted Therapy in a quiet environment.
